my past supervisor, way back when i was working in an LGU, told me that i have to slow down in the task assigned to me (even a simple one) because i easily get frustrated when things doesn't seem to come the way i wanted them to be..for her, i am, in a way, a perfectionist..
my heart that time disagreed because i know i'm not..it's just that my expectations are so high that i usually get disappointed when what i hoped for couldn't be met..
yesterday, we had a drug symposium intended for our students..glad that finally it was over cause i am too tired and exhausted thinking how it would run smoothly..
two weeks prior to the scheduled date, November 21, 2008, we already distributed the letter to the chairmen of the different departments informing them to send student and parent representatives for the said symposium and invitation letters were sent to the resource speakers.
November 17, 2008, our college president announced that the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)have chosen our school as venue for their information caravan..and the date...? November 21, 2008..Good news for some..sad news for me..hehehe! have to shuffle my time and effort to reach the resource speakers again to inform them that the symposium will be moved to November 20, 2008...thus, frustration number 1!
The symposium will start at 1:30pm but the registration is 1:00pm so we went to the Audio Visual Room to check on it..the drums, keyboards and electric guitars were the first to greet us when we entered..so, instead for preparing the multi-media system, we have to juggle with the drums set first and clean the area..i thought all the while that it was already prepared...aloha, frustration number 2!
The registration time for the symposium is 1:00pm..1:10, nobody's in the line for registration..1:25, the resource speakers from the Philippine National Police arrived..only 13 students are registered. Have to send a text message to an office mate just to entertain the guest speakers while we are still waiting for the Audio Visual Room to be filled with students...hello, frustration number 3!
The supposed 1:30pm symposium started at exactly 2:15pm..no worries about the topics and the speakers because it went on smoothly..the only problem is the Super Duper Hot venue! the air condition unit of the AVR is malfunctioning!...eewww, frustration number 4!
My co-facilitator and I went to the administration building to borrow an electric fan. But instead of bringing a fan with us, we were blown away by the Hot Comments she threw at us...welcome, frustration number 5!
Five frustrations in a day..whew! i guess my heart couldn't hold the lump anymore so i have to let it out! i went to the office and cried..i find solace in the company of a friend and the cyber world..i hibernated for a while because im slowly losing the patience i'm trying so hard to grip..
Too much expectations lead to frustrations..that's what mims told me yesterday while we were exchanging IMs..
i expected too much to the persons i looked up to..i expected that they will do their job as hard as i do..
at the end of the day, as i reflected on the events, i realized that there are other people who worked with me beyond expectations..The important thing is that, WE DID OUR BEST..
